Three Pieces for Horn and Piano by Zenobia Powell Perry

Three Pieces for Horn and Piano by Zenobia Powell Perry

$28.00Price
  • There are three movements:  Prelude (1973) (1:40);  Episode I (1983, rev. 1992) (2:40); and Episode II (1983, rev. 1992) (3:00)

It seems that Zenobia Perry wrote these pieces for performance by Central State University students. We do not have any information about the first performance of the Prelude, but on June 1, 1983, Ivan George Taylor performed these pieces on his Senior Recital at Central State University, with the composer at the piano. The work was performed in February 1987 by Louise MacGillivray, horn, and Deon Nielsen Price, piano, as part of the Symposium and Celebration of Black American Women in Music at California State University, Northridge. As with all her compositions, there were several revisions. Thanks to Will Winter in Gainsville, Florida, for his assistance with editing these pieces for publication.
